Privacy Policy for Gita Vision

Yoginam ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of our users. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Gita Vision mobile application (the "App"), which provides access to the Bhagavad Gita and related content. Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By accessing or using the App, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by the terms of this Privacy Policy. 2. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

  • 2.1. Information You Provide Directly:
    • User Content (Local): We collect any notes, bookmarks, and highlights you create within the App. This data is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
    • Onboarding Information (Server): During the initial setup (onboarding process), we may ask you to optionally provide information such as your preferred language (e.g., English, Hindi), age group, self-described spiritual understanding/level, and how you heard about the App (referral source). This information is transmitted and stored on our secure servers (provided by Supabase) to help us understand our user base and improve the App. Providing this information is optional where indicated.
    • Communications: If you contact us directly (e.g., for support), we collect your email address, the content of your message, and any attachments.
  • 2.2. Automatically Collected Information:
    • Device Information: We collect information about your mobile device, including the device model, operating system, unique device identifiers (a randomly generated, non-personally identifiable ID used for analytics), and mobile network information (for analytics and troubleshooting). We do not collect your IMEI.
    • Usage Data: We collect anonymous information about how you use the App, such as the features you use (search, bookmarks, etc.), your chosen theme settings (light/dark mode), and the time and date of your use. This data is used in an aggregated and anonymized form to improve the App and understand user preferences. We do not track individual reading habits in a personally identifiable way.
    • Offline Content: If you choose to download content for offline access, that content is stored locally on your device.
    • Location Data: We do not collect your precise geolocation data.
    • Crash Reports: We receive automated, anonymized crash reports when the application unexpectedly crashes. This data helps us find bugs and improve the stability of the application. These reports do not contain any personally identifiable information.
  • 2.3. Information from Third Parties:
    • Google Analytics/Firebase: We use Google Analytics/Firebase to collect anonymous usage data and crash reports to help us improve the App. We have configured Google Analytics/Firebase to anonymize IP addresses.     • Social Media Sharing: If you choose to share a verse using the built-in sharing functionality, the App will interact with the selected third-party app (e.g., your messaging app, social media app). We do not receive any information back from these third-party apps when you share. The sharing action is initiated entirely on your device.
3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To Provide and Maintain the App: To operate and maintain the App, provide you with access to the Gita text and features (bookmarks, notes, offline access), and to apply your chosen language and theme settings.
  • To Understand and Improve the App: To analyze anonymous usage patterns and the general demographic information provided during onboarding (like age group, spiritual level, referral source) to understand our user base better, identify areas for improvement, develop new features, fix bugs, and enhance the overall quality and performance of the App.
  • To Communicate with You: To respond to your inquiries, provide customer support, and send you important updates about the App. We will not send you marketing emails.
  • For Security Purposes: To detect, prevent, and address technical issues and security vulnerabilities.
  • To Comply with Legal Obligations: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, and legal processes.

4. How We Share Your Information

We value your privacy and limit the sharing of your information:

  • With Your Consent: We will only share personally identifiable information with third parties if you have given us your explicit consent to do so.
  • With Service Providers:
    • We use Google (Firebase/Analytics) as a service provider for anonymous analytics and crash reporting, as described above. Google is contractually obligated to protect this data.
    • We use Supabase as a service provider for backend infrastructure, including storing the onboarding information (language, age group, level, referral) you provide.   • For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to valid legal requests.
  • In Connection with a Business Transaction: If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, anonymized usage data, crash reports, and potentially the anonymized onboarding data *may* be transferred. *Your locally stored data (bookmarks, notes) remains on your device.* We will notify you of any change in ownership affecting data handling.
  • Aggregated or De-identified Data: We may share aggregated or de-identified usage and onboarding data (which cannot reasonably be used to identify you) with third parties for research or analysis.
  • No Advertising Networks: We do not share your information with any advertising networks.
5. Your Choices and Rights

  • Local Data Deletion: Your bookmarks, notes, and highlights are stored locally. You can delete this data by uninstalling the App.
  • Server Data (Onboarding Info): The onboarding information (language, age group, level, referral) is stored on our Supabase servers. As this data is collected without requiring personal identification (like name or email), it may be difficult to directly associate with you for access or deletion requests. However, if you have concerns or specific requests regarding this data, please contact us at the email address below, and we will address your request to the best of our ability based on the information available.
  • Control Device Permissions: You can control App permissions (like notifications) through your device's settings.
  • Do Not Track: The App does not currently respond to "Do Not Track" signals.
  • Your Rights Under GDPR and CCPA: If you reside in the EEA or California, you have rights regarding your personal information. Please contact us to exercise these rights. Note our limitations regarding accessing data stored only locally on your device or anonymized/pseudonymized data stored on our servers.

6. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information:

  • Data stored locally on your device is protected by your device's security.
  • We use secure cloud infrastructure provided by Supabase and Google Firebase for server-side data storage (onboarding info) and anonymous analytics/crash reporting, respectively. These providers implement industry-standard security practices.
  • We limit access to collected data to authorized personnel only.

However, no electronic storage or transmission method is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe your child has provided information, please contact us at [Your Contact Email Address] for its removal.

8. Third-Party Links

The App may link to external resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. Please read their privacy policies.

9. Changes to this Privacy Policy
